This year the Strathroy Caradoc Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday June 8, 2013 at Arkona Fairways Golf Club with two shotgun starts to select from starting at 7:30 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person and include golf, cart, turkey dinner and a gift. It will be in scramble format of men’s, women’s and mixed teams.

"While it's still cold outside now, it will quickly warm up and we are extremely excited to be organizing the tournament to support our local hospital to help fight breast cancer," said Marlene Duister, Co-Chair, Strathroy Caradoc Cancer Golf Tournament.

Proceeds will be directed towards new digital mammography equipment for Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH).

The requirement for breast cancer surgery is often diagnosed using mammography, and digital technology develops images that are better defined; which can help facilitate quicker diagnosis, allowing patients to begin treatment earlier.

"It's vitally important that we support those who have been touched by cancer by helping SMGH to purchase new mammography equipment. This tournament is not just a fundraiser, it's a unique activity that offers our community a way to get involved and engaged locally in the fight against cancer," says Co-Chair Marg Traxler.

Since it began 27 years ago, the Cancer Golf Tournament has raised $558,934 to help fight cancer. The day of golf includes a silent auction and will end off with social hour and dinner at 6:30 p.m., along with a presentation about local cancer prevention and treatment options at SMGH. 
The committee is currently seeking golfers and sponsors for this event.
